Angelina Jolie‘s team is springing into action after many of her hardcore fans – us – were offended by the insulting treatment of journalists at her film premiere this week.
Now, her lawyer and manager are speaking out about that hideous agreement, barring media from asking Jolie any personal questions and opening them up to a lawsuit if they broke the agreement.
Angelina’s attorney, Robert Offer, said that the agreement was the fault of a “bone-headed, overzealous lawyer” – (him) – and that Jolie was unaware of the move. “This was my creating something to protect her from the press’s talking about personal matters, a document that would limit discussion to the film,” he tells The New York Times. “But it was drafted overly broadly. It was well intended, but I understand how it was received.”
Jolie’s manager, Geyer Kosinski, said the document was meant to “guide” journalists, not control them, because Angelina has a tendency to speak frankly. “She is an incredibly candid, honest person, who is undeterred herself in answering questions,” he said. “Our collective intention was to protect her.”
Well, lousy job you all did!
Don’t make the same mistake again!
