Federico Saenz-Recio is now on the loose in the mean streets of New York. He recently left Version 2 to pursue life as a freelance animator. From the looks of his reel and the body of work on his site all the motion graphics shops just benefited from his decision.
Sehsucht: Auto Trophy 2007
Friday, December 21st, 2007For the past several years, Hamburg-based Sehsucht studios has been creating show-opens for Auto Trophy, an annual auto show in Germany. Their latest in the series is a spellbinding trip that takes you from 3D realism to 2D abstraction.
Director and 3D artist Timo Schädel headed up this effort, with 2D assistance from Martin Hess. The music is from Sebastian Zenke at Blunk & Will.
Matt Lavoy
Friday, December 21st, 2007While his work focuses more on compositing, particle generation and vfx supervision than most of the folks we talk about here on Motionographer, LA-based Matt Lavoy’s reel is a solid bit of viewing. The sustained level of polish in his work stands up to frame-by-frame scrutiny, and the fluidity of his transitions is astounding.
I’d also love to see more cut lists like the one Matt has on his site. It’s a helpful, non-intrusive way to make sure we all know what we’re looking at.
PS — In case it wasn’t clear from Matt’s site, the still above is from the Superfad Pioneer spot we featured here a while back. Matt was one of about 20 people on the team.

Most people spend their holiday down time revising Christmas lists and relaxing. If you’re a member of the Nathan Love gang, you spend your holiday time pulling all nighters and creating demented animations with loose Christmas themes. I’m proud to pass along to you to new animations by none other. Enjoy.

“All Will Be Revealed”
Thursday, December 20th, 2007Steve Scott recently created an animated backdrop for Led Zeppelin’s re-union concert in London. The band played Kashmir for 20,000 fans in front of a 28 x 12 meter screen while this deco-psychedelic film played – the only video in the whole show. Nice work if you can get it.
